We don't go back to standard time until Sunday, Nov. 1. Remember to turn back any analog clocks. This time of year is also a good time to look for vehicle recalls and check/change the batteries in your smoke alarms.
Checking for safety recalls is very important, but it is also very easy. Every vehicle has a unique VIN. Enter a VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls to learn if your specific vehicle needs to be repaired...

Living in New York, you always have to have a few backup plans for getting around. When I hear the trains are delayed, I take the bus. A few weeks ago I took the bus home and something strange happened. The driver went off the scheduled route and started making strange stops. Passengers were uneasy, and I got off at the first stop I could and ended up taking a different subway line home.

It was a lot of fun, I zipped around for a few minutes, it was very easy to use and control. One issue was that I was unsure where to place it at the end of my ride. Eventually I put it next to a crowded bike rack, but I could see too many scooters getting out of hand. That said, I would use this everyday for my 2.1 mile commute. That may come sooner than later. Ford has purchased San Francisco-based scooter sharing company Spin.
