We will "spring forward" one hour starting early Sunday morning. Because the day is only 23 hours long, we will lose an hour of sleep. We will "fall back" into standard time on Sunday Nov. 1. We don't go back to standard time until Sunday, Nov. 1. Remember to turn back any analog clocks. This time of year is also a good time to look for vehicle recalls and check/change the batteries in your smoke alarms.

Living in New York, you always have to have a few backup plans for getting around. When I hear the trains are delayed, I take the bus. A few weeks ago I took the bus home and something strange happened. The driver went off the scheduled route and started making strange stops. Passengers were uneasy, and I got off at the first stop I could and ended up taking a different subway line home.
