A few days ago I saw the aftermath of a major accident right outside of Rear View Safety's main office in Brooklyn. A car hit a cyclist who was riding across Atlantic, a busy street.
There was a large crowd of people and emergency vehicles all around. I asked the crowd what had happened. The cyclist wasn't wearing a helmet and had run a red light and was struck by an SUV. I watched the paramedics place him on a stretcher and drive away. I read later that he died from the injuries.
Who Is To Blame?
The fault lies on the cyclist. He ran a light, and paid the ultimate price for it. However, the...

While walking to work today I saw a cyclist hit a hidden patch of ice and fall onto the street. I quickly ran over to see if he was ok, and luckily he seemed alright. A bit shaken, but alright. He didn’t have a helmet on, but caught himself on his hands before his head hit the cement. Thankfully no cars were coming. He was riding on a pretty busy street. It got me thinking about safety laws.
“I should be wearing a helmet, but I left it at work and I’m not going very far. I’ll slow down,” he assured me before zipping down Van Brunt St.
Of course, he should wear a helmet. Everyone should wear a helmet...

The event raises safety awareness and supports the life-saving...

The simple fact of the matter is that the road systems across the country were built for one thing and one thing only: cars. Taking one look at their design and layout is all you need to confirm that pedestrians and bicyclists factored very little into some of the decisions that were made. Despite this, pedestrians and cyclists use the roads every day to get to and from work or school, to spend an afternoon getting their daily exercise in and more. The Highway Safety Association is looking to close the gap between driver safety and road safety by way of a number of innovative engineering solutions...

Bicycle riders are becoming an increasingly common sight in many cities around the country for a number of different reasons. Some people choose to ride a bike rather than driving to do their part in helping to keep the environment clean. Others correctly recognize that bike riding is a great form of exercise. Regardless, there are a number of bicycle road safety tips that you need to be aware of to help keep everyone as safe as possible at all times.

Around the United States, the percentage of people that commute to work on bicycles has risen exponentially. Unfortunately, so too have bicycle deaths.
According to a new study from the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of people that now commute to work on bicycles has risen by over 60 percent in the last decade. That is good for the environment, it helps alleviate congestion, and it leads to a healthier populace.
There is a significant downside though.
With the number of people riding bikes increasing, so too has the number of people killed in motorist vehicle accidents involving cyclists. And that...
