The Futuristic USPS Truck Going Viral

"It's absolutely adorable.

This thing looks like a Big Mouth character

As a fan of 2000s Cartoon Network I wish all cars looked like this

It hasn’t even taken to the streets yet, but the next generation of USPS trucks is already raising eyebrows!

The new concept for the NGDV (Next Generation Delivery Vehicle) will be made by Oshkosh Defense, who recently won the 10-year contract for the job.

Over the next 10 years, the company will produce somewhere between 50,000 to 165,000 of the futuristic-looking vehicles, with the first batch expected to hit the streets in 2023.

That proposed exaggerated front windshield intended to widen a driver’s peripheral vision is getting all the attention right now, but it’s the tip of the iceberg as far as features go.

An upgrade to internal climate control, ergonomics, cargo space, and a fuel-efficient combustion engine or battery powered powertrain capable of being retrofitted to go full electric are among the other bells and whistles for the futuristic delivery van.

However, it’s the safety features (expectedly) that caught the eyes of the RVS team; advanced braking and traction control, air bags, collision avoidance-systems, warning systems and automatic-braking that rely on an HD 360° Camera System With Built-In DVR

The new designs are decades in the making, as the current vehicles used by the Post Office have been in service for 30 years, do not meet modern-day fuel efficiency standards, and have even become fire hazards in some cases.

It’s a much-needed refresh, and we’re on board!
