10 Deadliest States For Winter Driving

‘Tis that time of year again, when an extra cup of eggnog can mean the difference between life and death in a wintry storm.

Though this is a bit overly dramatic, we do take winter (and drunk) driving seriously here at RVS.

While we offer both heated systems AND driver fatigue detection systems (including an AI facial recognition dash cam in the works!) that address both of those issues, we also recommend taking preventative steps if you have to hit the road.

Going that extra mile is crucial if you live in one of these 10 states* where driving fatalities are especially high in the winter:

- Michigan

7.7 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- South Dakota

7.9 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Iowa

7.9 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Maine

9.6 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Montana

11.3 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Alaska

11.3 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Vermont

12.5 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Nebraska

12.7 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- North Dakota

19.6 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

- Wyoming

34.1 fatal crashes per 1M drivers

Not surprisingly, the Northernmost parts of the U.S. experience the worst of it, with Wyoming being the runaway winner in this morbid category.

We can’t stress it enough, stay safe out there on those ice roads
