Truck Camera System – A Compact System for Trucks
As the leader in rearview camera systems, we have also become a leader in supplying trucks with a truck camera system. Since 2007 we have installed thousands of cameras in trucks around the country. We supply cameras for commercial trucks as well as personal trucks and SUVs. We are also a sponsor for the Kids and Cars program which is in place to help raise safety awareness about the dangers of backing over children while driving in trucks or SUVs. Our technology is the best on the market and will help protect children, employees, drivers and anything else that may be at risk for being backed into by a vehicle.
For a smaller truck (or any truck for that matter) a great pick is the RVS-770618. This truck camera system is compact and doesn’t take a lot of space, still it provides the safety you’re seeking in a rear view camera system. The camera on this system has 130 degree angle with infra-red night vision up to fifty feet. This means in the dark you can see up to fifty feet behind your vehicle. The lens of the camera has 420 TV lines which will give the best quality image and doesn’t leave any blind spots. Foam around the lens prevents a glare on the lens which helps ensure, you’ll have a clear picture. There’s also a microphone for audio coverage and a casing that’s weather proof and has a 10g impact rating, which is the highest possible rating.
The monitor is awesome if you want this system for a smaller truck or vehicle. It’s called a mirror monitor which actually looks like a rearview mirror. With full color, the screen is a 4.2” TFT-LCD monitor. The monitor attaches to your rear view mirror that’s already in the vehicle. So it’s small and doesn’t take up too much space but still does an excellent job to protect everyone. It’s also convenient because with the three channel multiplexer it can connect a DVD player or another camera. It’s great to be able to use it for other things when the truck camera system is not in use.
When you purchase the RVS-770618 your package will include the following: the camera, the monitor, the multiplexer control unit, remote control, all connective wires, and the power converter. We provide a full one year warranty on all of our merchandise as well. If you need something for a larger truck, look into a two, three, or four truck camera system.
Importance of a Backup Camera
A backup camera is a special device that allows vehicles to obtain an accurate view of the space behind them. This is critical since the trunk of a vehicle causes an impediment to the view of the area exactly behind it.
Statistics show that at least 50 small children are killed yearly because drivers are unable to see them in their rear view mirrors while reversing. A backup camera is meant to correct this disadvantage and increase road safety for all concerned.
Large vehicles such as Motorhomes (RVs) and trucks are especially in need of this sort of device since their size makes it impossible to clearly view what is behind them. They are also particularly vulnerable to their blind spot - the area which drivers can neither view directly nor through a rear view mirror. This defect is corrected with a proper video camera in place.
Design of a Backup Camera
For
maximum efficiency, the reversing camera is mounted to the lower areas
of the vehicle such as the bumper, enabling accurate and safe backing
up. Also, the design is such that the final image is reversed
since it will be presented to the driver who is sitting in front.
Without such an arrangement, the driver will get mixed up as to which
is left and right.Lots of modern vehicles come inbuilt with LCD screens for movie watching or map based navigation. Due to this, the addition of a backup camera is no longer a major expense since the screen can serve several purposes. The circuitry detects when the driver is about to backup and can switch to the appropriate display when needed.
Such cameras also are designed to present a wide sweep of area behind the vehicle. This occurs at the cost of visibility of faraway objects, but is a reasonable trade off given that near objects are more important to a safe backup. Also, the camera will have a slight downward tilt to see objects lying on the road which can cause an obstruction.
Summary
Backup Cameras are an important
part of any large vehicles safety systems. Given the number of
accidents and huge potential damages of life and property, they are
almost a given on any vehicle above a certain size. There are many types of Backup Cameras available including semi permanent ones as well as those which have special features for backup up at night. Browse our product list to find out which one suits your needs.
